Privacy Policy
Effective Date: March 3, 2026
App: TrackWalk
Developer: Chris Wooster Creative
Overview
TrackWalk is designed with privacy as a foundation. The app does not collect, transmit, or share your personal data with anyone. Everything stays on your device. That’s by design; we cannot access your data, nor can anyone else unless they have access to your phone. No logins. No accounts.
Data TrackWalk Collects
TrackWalk stores the following information locally on your device only:
Location data — GPS coordinates recorded during active walks, used to calculate distance, map your route, and detect when you have returned to your starting point
Walk history — Date, duration, distance, estimated calories, and estimated steps for each recorded walk
Personal measurements — Height and weight, used solely to estimate calorie burn and step length
User preferences — Unit system (imperial or metric), distance goals, and notification settings
How Your Data is Used
All data collected by TrackWalk is used exclusively to provide app functionality. Location data is used to track your walk in real time and display your route on a map. Height and weight are used for on-device calculations of estimated calories and steps. Walk history is used to display statistics, reports, and progress toward your goals. Your data is never used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond the core features of the app.
Data Storage
All data is stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's SwiftData framework. Data is not uploaded to any server, cloud service, or external database. It is not synced to iCloud, or to any other cloud-based service.
Data Sharing
TrackWalk does not share your data with any third party, automatically or otherwise. The app includes an Export feature that allows you to manually export your walk history as a CSV or GPX file using the iOS share sheet. This action is always initiated by you and goes only to the destination you choose. TrackWalk does not send data on your behalf.
Third-Party Services
TrackWalk uses no third-party SDKs, analytics tools, advertising frameworks, or external APIs. The app uses only Apple-native frameworks (SwiftUI, SwiftData, CoreLocation, MapKit, UserNotifications). Map data is rendered by Apple Maps (MapKit), which is built into iOS. TrackWalk does not pass your personal data to Apple Maps beyond what is required to display your device's location on screen.
Location Permissions
TrackWalk requests access to your location while using the app to track your walk when the app is open, and in the background to continue tracking when your screen is locked. Location access is used only during an active walk session. You can revoke location permission at any time in your iPhone's Settings app, though this will prevent the app from tracking walks.
Notifications
TrackWalk may send local notifications to alert you when you appear to have returned to your walk's starting point, and to remind you to back up your data if you have enabled that reminder. All notifications are generated on your device. No notification data is transmitted externally.
Children’s Policy
TrackWalk does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The app collects no data externally and has no account or sign-in system.
Your Rights
Because all data is stored locally on your device, you are in full control at all times. You may delete individual walks from within the app, delete all app data by deleting TrackWalk from your iPhone, or export your data at any time using the Export feature.
Changes to This Policy
If this privacy policy changes in a future version of TrackWalk, the updated policy will be posted at the URL below and the effective date will be updated.
